Some great points raised. Tantrums in children and adults are frequently a loud and hurtful expression of frustration of the person's own inability to communicate information in an articulate way. This lack of communication may be down to many things such as inexperience (e.g. unable to express a reasoned argument or position) or fear (e.g. inappropriately expressed worries over being unnoticed or unloved) .Keep up the good work, Robin

It's great to hear you talking about showing children respect and listening to what they have to say. It is difficult for adults (parents or not) to remember that while children do not have the knowledge that adults do, the children can often learn new things more quickly than adults. This probably has something to do with their ability to sense when adults are about to temper tantrum as well.
